Salesforce for Nonprofits
A Nonprofit is a corporation or an association that conducts business for the benefit of the general public without shareholders and without a profit motive.
A successful Nonprofit communicates with its supporters which can be delivered through, social media messaging, email marketing, advertising and more.
Great communication can be achieved by using those channels in partnership with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, such as Salesforce. Using data to administer its interactions at time-specific, user-specific, journey specific checkpoints.
So, how can Salesforce help Nonprofits manage their organisation?
We cannot deny that we live in an increasingly digital world. Adopting technology is critical to thriving and surviving in the future.
Salesforce can digitally transform your Nonprofit, its cloud-based technology removes boundaries between departments, providing a 360-degree view of your organisation and unifying staff. It allows you to build awareness for your cause and engage with potential supporters using your preferred channels.
Salesforce can help you with a number of different industries including Fundraising, Marketing and Engagement, Programme Management and Grantmaking.
This is done with the Nonprofit Success Pack, which has been specifically created for Nonprofits. You are able to select which features best suit your organisation such as:
Setting up online fundraising campaigns that are easily created and managed without code or complexity
Managing volunteers, whether that is recruitment or tracking existing ones
Planning an event, starting with a fully customisable registration process, staying on top of event logistics by tracking, speakers, sponsors and venue
Donor and constituent management
Donation and fundraising tracking (including tools for setting up recurring donations)
Overview of reports and enhanced analytics (through a pre-built, customisable dashboard)
Those are just a few of the possible features that can help manage your Nonprofit, the customisation and possibilities really are infinite with the integration of Apps and bespoke development.
A quote from Salesforce themselves said, “76% of Nonprofits feel that Salesforce is “making it easier for them to do their jobs and have seen a 24% increase in donor retention. Furthermore, 96% of Nonprofit respondents from the same survey see the potential for innovation with Salesforce”
How much does it cost for a Nonprofit to get started with Salesforce?
Licensing
Salesforce is free for Nonprofit organizations, for the first 10 licenses. The NPSP app (that most Nonprofits start out with) also comes at zero cost. However, this doesn’t mean that the whole process is free, you still have to put some time and resources into understanding how to best use it and tailor the platform to your business, but Inardua can help with that!
Pricing
It will cost your organisation between $25 (£19) and $150 (£115) per user per month just for the Salesforce subscription, but the additional cost of implementing Salesforce into your business (usually done by a Salesforce Consulting firm) can vary hugely depending on the size of your organization and the level of customisation you’ll need. For smaller, more basic Nonprofits who’ll use the standard set-up, it’ll be on the lower end. According to a number of different reports carried out by the IDC it can cost anywhere from $5,000-$100,000+ (£3,500-£75,000) to implement Salesforce into your Nonprofit. We also offer Nonprofits a 10% discount.
How Inardua have helped Nonprofits?
We are currently working with International Cat Care, after setting them up on Salesforce Nonprofit Success Pack, we worked on giving them a data model that reflected the Account and Contact Hierarchy of ICC as well as the relationship to Membership types and levels. Our work continues as we automate processes and integrate the public website with a 3rd party.
We have also provided Pro-Bono work for Winston's Wish by giving them consulting advice on automation processes, as well as assisting Meningitis Now with ad-hoc bug fixes and advice on Lightning Migration.
Is Salesforce only for big charities?
In short NO.
Any size Nonprofit that is willing to invest time into Salesforce will see the amazing benefits that come from the platform and will reap the rewards from the efforts they put in.
How can Nonprofits get started on their Salesforce journey?
First thing’s first, Contact Us or book a Discovery Call so we can talk with you about how we can help you grow your business.
The next step is to head over to Salesforce’s website and see if you are eligible to be part of their programme.
As mentioned above (if you are eligible) your Nonprofit will receive 10 free licenses (subscriptions) as part of their Power of Us Program. After this, you will receive your NPSP (Nonprofit Success Pack), which takes the world’s #1 CRM and reimagines it for your Nonprofit organization. NPSP is a mature, industry standard-data model with objects and capabilities to help manage your income streams, inbound grants, and programs in one place.
The next step would be to sign up to Trailhead which is an amazing Salesforce tool that provides free and detailed training.
Finally, have fun with it! Once you begin your journey with Salesforce, you won’t look back, it will transform your Nonprofit and change the way you think about business.
