Volunteering at James Hopkins Trust

As part of our Pledge 1%, the Inardua team spent the day volunteering at the James Hopkins Trust.

The James Hopkins Trust was set up 33 years ago and offers daytime care, overnight respite and support to the families of children who have life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

The day began with Ria the Fundraising Manager chatting to us about what James Hopkins Trust does and how they support 104 children aged 0-5 in Gloucestershire. The care they offer can be at the family home or at the purpose-built multi-sensory respite centre and gardens at Kites Corner.

Kites Corner, is where we spent the day! The centre has fantastic facilities and lots of activities for the children to enjoy all with the safety of a nurse at hand. Not to mention the hydrotherapy bath and multi-sensory therapy.

But it was the garden where Inardua got put to work. The sensory garden is a beautiful big space, with a wheelchair friendly roundabout, musical instruments and swings. As well as the Memorial Stream, where stones lay in memory of a child that has passed away by their family. It is clear that the James Hopkins Trust is like a family, with families returning for parties and always welcome to visit the Memorial Stream.

Sean, being the tallest of the team took on the high hedges, whereas Amy and Eddie got to work on the weeds. Rebecca and I had fun with the jet wash, and Ollie strimmed his way around the garden. We had a great day working together maintaining the garden and ready for the children to enjoy.

The James Hopkins Trust really is an amazing place and takes a lot of money to provide such excellent care, please donate if you can via their Just Giving page.
